Acupuncture
- an holistic medicine treating the whole person
Acupuncture is a system of medicine that restores and maintains health by the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the surface of the body. Needling these points activates the patient's own recuperative and healing powers. Over 2000 years ago Acupuncture was already well established as part of the repertoire of Chinese Medicine.
Traditionally, Acupuncture is seen as redirecting the "Qi", or vital energy, of the body that flows continuously through the meridian system, an energetic network interconnecting the acupuncture points as well as influencing the internal organs and other body systems.
Both Sue Kalicinska and Ruth Burry of The Camberley Natural Therapy Centre are members of the British Acupuncture Council. Call us on 01276 23300 for more information and to book your session.
While Acupuncture is deservedly well known for its treatment of such conditions as arthritis, back pain and migraines, a far wider range of complaints can also be helped, such as infectious diseases, menstrual disorders, respiratory ailments, depression and hormonal disturbances.
It is important to realise that Acupuncture is an holistic medicine, treating the whole person rather than the disease and attempts to work with the cause of the problem as well as the symptoms. Thus, dietary advice, for example, may play a part in the treatment. Acupuncture has a detailed diagnostic system and can thus be used as a preventative medicine, correcting imbalances in their early stages. Such preventative treatments are traditionally carried out at change of season.
